I expected them to be just decorative but they're bright enough to comfortably drive at night. I love the simple fit: I didn't want the complexity or cost of a control box, as I'm happy to have them on at all times, and they just plugged straight into the two spare slots on the receiver. Although I did have to make some brackets to fit them to the buggy. Highly recommended.

Currently hooked up to a HBX pro and Tamiya Twin Detonator/Wild Dagger. cable is more than long enough for 1/10th scale models and enbales you to get the body off without pulling on the cables.
